If there is one thing that my grandma taught me growing up, it was that you need to be thankful for what you have. So many people are always reaching for more and more, instead of taking advantage of what’s already in front of them. She grew up in the Depression, so she knows first hand what it’s like to have nothing. It’s good and bad. I hate that she had to live through that, but at the same time, it has taught her a lot of valuable lessons that she has been able to share with me.
One thing that she learned during that time was that you don’t need a whole bunch of fancy ingredients to make a nice dinner. With just a few simple items, you can create a yummy dish that the whole family can enjoy.
When I found this recipe on Recipe Lion, it reminded me of her. The list of ingredients is all things that I already have at my house. When I made it, I knew it was going to be yummy, and it was! It reminded my so much of the meals Grandma used to make…giving me that warm and fuzzy feeling all over.
