When I was growing up, we didn’t have a whole lot of extra funds to spend a lot of money on groceries. I remember whenever I would share snacks with the neighborhood kids, my parents would pull me to the side and tell me that they were grateful that I was being so nice, but that we couldn’t really afford to give away our food. I never really understood it until I started buying my own groceries, but now I get it.
One of the dishes that my mom would frequently make for us was salisbury steaks just like these ones that I found on The Pioneer Woman. I couldn’t understand why we had them so much, but now I know.
They are super affordable, and extremely delicious. Now I make them at home all the time for me and my family. I like to pair them up with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
There are hardly any leftovers and my kids will even offer to do the dishes. I guess that means their happy…if their happy…I’m happy.
