No More Boring Ground Beef!

Usually, when I take out hamburger to thaw, I end up making the traditional spaghetti, tacos, or sloppy joes. This recipe really lets me be creative with that sometimes boring food option. After eating the same meals over and over again, it’s nice to be able to switch things up. Just a note: I usually double the gravy recipe so that there is enough to go with my potatoes or rice…and serve along with some corn or green beans…tasty! See what they are saying over at All Recipes”

“We cleaned our plates.”

We had the same outcome when I served these at my house. No scraps in the garbage is a good day for me.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 egg

1/4 cup bread crumbs

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon Lawry’s seasoned salt

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon McCormick’s garlic powder

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 cup thinly sliced onion

2 tablespoons Gold Medal all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon cooking sherry

1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Instructions

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 8 balls, and flatten into patties.

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and onion in the oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the beef patties to a plate, and keep warm.

Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually mix in the beef broth and sherry. Season with seasoned salt.

Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

Absolutely do not like your format—no title to the recipe, has an ad in the middle, Plus not a printable copy. I have to copy, make deletions and changes before printing. Recipes are great.

All this is, is Salisbury Steak. I make it pretty often. But, I sure wouldn’t want to eat any of it after seeing that nasty ass skillet that this person prepared it in. And I agree, the format sucks.

What rude, arrogant people you are. I guess you are of a younger generation and missed your mother telling you that if you cannot say something to NOT say anything at all. I am appalled at your self righteous attitudes. Move on if it doesn’t interest you. Believe me, the whole world is not sitting around with baited breath just waiting to hear the judgement you pass on everyone else, since you are perfect and all that. You each should apologize and then move on.

Right, keep going. Others want to know. I follow recipes off my phone all the time. Thanks for this one.

Amen Leah! Geez. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I’ve seen similar ones before but it was a good reminder. Hadn’t thought about this recipe in a while. Always trying to keep variety in my menu. Keep sharing any good recipes you come across dude. ?

I’m a cooking dad, I need none traditional sides, my kids are weird, they eat weird stuff, therefore, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, stuff like that don’t kick it. Any ideas?

People so rude…..thanks for. Reminder recipe was great…and thanks for your time you took to share….the complainers need to start their own page. Shameful

My problem is I don’t know how to copy and to old to figure it out. I love your recipes and would love to have them
