When I was a kid, my grandma always used to make a huge family dinner for Christmas.
It got so crowded in her small apartment when we all squeezed in to enjoy her delicious cookings! No-one seemed to mind, though – we were way too busy eating. We were literally eating our way towards her famous dessert; the rice pudding where she had hidden a single almond inside. Whoever got the almond was going to get a surprise present!
But before we could get to that, there were so many amazing dishes to go through. One of them was this traditional pork pie. It was something I was always looking forward to. Such a rich taste from only a few ingredients!
I would recognize that delicious scent with my eyes closed, and I don’t think it would feel like Christmas at all if I didn’t get a slice of this during the Holidays.
