Do You Love Onions? This One Is For You!

Guys, you are going to love this recipe.  It is SO easy and so full of delicious flavors that really make it stand out.  It has everything we could possibly want when it comes to flavors and even I, the number one onion hater, love it! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the onions are no longer veggies in this, they are practically potato chips! Haha.  But really, this is such an easy recipe to keep on hand for big family gatherings, or just for you and your hubby to have lots of leftovers! So delicious!

Check out what our friends over at Lil’ Luna had to say about this:

“The best thing about this French Onion Chicken Casserole is that it takes little prep time. Literally, it takes about 5 minutes to throw together if your chicken is already made.”

This is one of those recipes that I keep on hand when I buy a rotisserie chicken at my supermarket.  So easy to turn that into this amazing meal!

Ingredients

3 cups Chopped cooked chicken

1 cup chopped celery (or french style green beans)

1 cup Kraft shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup Daisy sour cream

1 cup Hellman’s mayo

1 can Campbell’s cream of chicken

½ cup slivered almonds

1 6 oz French’s fried onions

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 and coat a 9×13 baking dish

In large bowl, stir celery, cheese, sour cream, mayo and cream of chicken. Add chicken and almonds. Spoon into dish.

Bake uncovered for 30 minutes. Sprinkle fried onion and cook another 5 minutes. Let stand 5-10 minutes. Enjoy!

I see some changes I’d have to make, but it would still be the same half dozen ingredients. Not being married any longer (happily divorced for 35 years!!), I’d have to freeze this in multiple containers, but how nice it would be to have it ready for those nights when I just don’t want to cook.

I am not that crazy about the Frenches onions so I think I will add chopped onion instead..

I would also like to say the I love when you tell us that a recipe is freezable. As my household is very small they are always left overs so I try make recipes that I can freeze. Thank you. Can wait to give it a try.

I have been giving this recipe some more thought. I wonder if instead of the canned fried onions use onion rings instead. the onions get cooked but you would still have some crunch.

I always find these recipes so intriguing – I love onions and I thought this was going to be a baked onion dish of some sort. Unfortunately – although I bet this is delicious – it might as well be called “Delicious Death in a Casserole Dish”!

PUT THAT IN THE FREEZER AND JUST LEAVE IT THERE. WHEN IT GETS TO THE POINT YOU CAN’T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS……THROW IT AWAY.
