My great-grandmother was pure Irish. She wasn’t the easiest person to talk to, but man could she cook. She was great at showing us how much she cared about us just by preparing a traditional, delicious meal like this Irish Shepherd’s Pie that I found on All Recipes. When I was searching for home-style Shepherd’s Pies, this is what drew me in. So incredibly tasty!
It was a bit of work to get the job done, but it was so worth it when we were all sitting around the table diving into this deliciousness. The recipe made plenty for a family of four. I used the peas and carrots as suggested, but I imagine you can substitute whatever you prefer or have on hand.
This is a pie that tasted just like the ones great-grams used to make. I’m so glad I found it, and so is my family! They ask for it all the time at my house.
There usually aren’t any leftovers so I don’t have much of a job to do after the plates are cleared. Perfect!
