When we went out to the farm back in the day, Grandpa didn’t do a whole lot of the cooking. Mainly because he was always out in the fields and barns working. It was rare that we saw him between sun-up and sun-down, unless he was coming in for lunch. He barely even ever did that. Once in a while though, he would take a day off and spend some time with his grandkids.
When Grandma would go to BINGO with her friends for the night, that put him in charge of the cooking. He would always go to his old standby…beef and macaroni….and we loved it! It was such a simple meal, but it was so comforting and yummy. It never tasted the same two times either because he always switched up the ingredients a little bit to fit what he had in the fridge.
For a guy that never spent any time in the kitchen, he sure knew what he was doing with this dish. I found a recipe like it on Spend with Pennies and now I make it for my family. There are never and moans or groans when this dish is set down on the dining table.
