Now, don’t get me wrong. I love me some baked beans, especially the traditional kind that my mother makes. However, there is something truly amazing about this calico beans recipe that simply takes my breath away. My husband’s grandma has this special recipe that she uses when making these beans and I honestly think it is the mustard and ketchup that does the trick. Such simple ingredients!
Last Christmas, calico beans were served at our family dinner celebration and I swear to you, the bowl was empty afterward. Not even a morsel left! Apparently, that is how it is every year when grandma Joyce makes her world-famous calico beans.
