When I was younger, I never had chicken cordon bleu at home, in a restaurant, or anywhere else. I was under the impression that it was a meal that only rich people could afford, and we were far from wealthy.
With five brothers and sisters running around, we were lucky to go to a restaurant to eat at all, and the kind we went to never had a dish this fancy. When I was a teenager, I got a job at an upscale restaurant in town.
As part of the job, we got to eat the food that was there, within reason. One night, a dinner party was held and they requested chicken cordon bleu. There were leftovers, so I finally had my chance. It was amazing…to say the least.
Now that I have a family of my own, I want to be able to offer them the same delicious meal, without the price tag. That’s when I found this casserole on Group Recipes.
It was just as good, but much more affordable. We have this all the time now and it’s a favorite by everyone in my house!
