Get A Plate. You’re Gonna Want Some Of This Hawaiian-Style Farmer’s Sausage!

This is one of those recipes that is definitely going down in history in my house! I actually hand wrote out this recipe onto one of my index cards and stuck it into my mama’s hand-me-down little tin treasure box. So, basically, that means this recipe is stinkin’ GOOD. If you haven’t tried this yumminess yet please do!

I really like this recipe. I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to turn out or taste but boy, am I ever glad I gave it a shot and whipped up a batch!

 

Ingredients

1 ring farmer sausage (about 1 1/2 pounds), sliced in 1/2 inch pieces

2 stalks celery, sliced

1 large onion, sliced

1 green pepper, cut in chunks

1 red pepper, cut in chunks

1 large can Del Monte diced tomatoes (796 ml / 28 oz)

1 can Dole pineapple chunks or tidbits (398 ml / 14 oz), drain and reserve juice

1 teaspoon McCormick garlic salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon Domino brown sugar

1 tablespoon La Choy soy sauce

2 tablespoons Argo cornstarch

Instructions

Stir fry farmer sausage for several minutes.

Add celery, onions, and peppers and cook until tender crisp.

Add tomatoes, pineapple, seasonings, sugar and soy sauce.  Simmer 5 minutes.

Blend cornstarch with reserved pineapple juice. Add to simmering sausage dish and cook for 2 minutes.

Serve on a bed of rice.
