Easy As Apple Pie: Caramel Apple French Toast Casserole

Caramel apple French toast is what you will spoil your kids with and they will never want to go back to regular old French toast again. Even your husband will get cranky if you make the regular one. 😉 Check out what our friends over at Lemon Tree Dwelling had to say about this recipe:

This breakfast casserole just screams Fall!  And folks, I am so ready for Fall!  My kids raved and raved over this, so I thought it would be a good addition to my Large Family Recipespage.  You can also make this ahead of time and then pop it in the oven in the morning.  Or enjoy it as a dessert!  So yummy!

I’ll be making this yummy casserole very soon!

Ingredients

1 loaf of bread (I use our homemade whole wheat bread), cubed
8 oz Philadelphia cream cheese, cubed
2 apples, diced
6 eggs
1 c. milk
1 Tbsp McCormick cinnamon
3/4 c. Kerrygold butter
3/4 c. Domino brown sugar
2 Tbsp maple syrup (you can use corn syrup)

Instructions

Place half of the bread cubes in a 10×15″ casserole dish.  {You can make this work in a 9×13 if need be}  Place cream cheese cubes over the top of the bread evenly.  Sprinkle with apples.  Top with remaining bread cubes.  Beat eggs, milk and cinnamon and pour over the casserole.  {If making ahead of time, stop here and cover and refrigerate.}

In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and syrup and bring to a boil  Pour over the top of the casserole.  Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.
