Shortly after I made these for my wife, my son came up to us and said he had to take in a treat for his classroom party. With exhausted eyes my wife looked at me with that look that said…can you take this one? Not a problem! I whipped together a batch of these babies in no time, wrapped them up, and dropped them off with my little guy at school. He came home with an empty container so they must have went over pretty well. Check out what they are saying about this recipe over at Group Recipes:
“I am looking for a simple and easy recipe that I can make healthier, yet still satisfy my love of brownies. This may just be it.”
You can make this a healthier recipe by using gluten-free flour if you would like. I just made it with regular ingredients though and it was amazing!
Ingredients
½ cup cocoa (cacao)
½ cup butter (1 stick)
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
¼ cup flour
1 cup chopped or broken-up walnuts or pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Heat oven to 325 degrees.
Melt butter in saucepan with cocoa and stir until smooth.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a large bowl.
Whisk in eggs, one at a time.
Stir in vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine sugar, flour, nuts and salt.
Add to the cocoa-butter mixture.
Stir until just combined.
Pour into a greased 8 x 8-inch-square pan.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
Do not over bake; the brownies should be gooey.
Let cool, then cut into bars.

Quick Tip: Check if they are done by inserting a toothpick in the middle. If it comes out clean…they’re ready!
