When it comes to my family, the cake that’s usually being requested during birthdays is carrot cake with the yummiest cream cheese frosting. Even up to this day, my brother and I always requests for carrot cake when mom asks us what we want for our birthday. Yes, we still celebrate it with the family. It’s kind of a tradition. It’s different with Aunt Beth’s family. Aunt Beth loved my late grandmother’s cherry spice cake, which is why her daughters and son grew up eating them.
So when it comes to their family, that’s the “special occasion cake”. Last October was Lily’s birthday. She is one of Aunt Beth’s daughters.
We rarely see Lily nowadays because she was having her internship at one of the fashion magazines in New York. So when she had free time during her birthday, Aunt Beth invited us all. She made a lot of food including roast beef and shrimp pasta (Lily’s favorite), and of course her birthday cake, which was a cherry spice cake.
Lily was so happy to see us there. She gave us all a hug each and asked how we were. I’m kind of glad that even with all the prestige that came with working in a fashion magazine, she hasn’t changed. She’s still that amazing lady who deserved her success and of course, the amazing cake that her mom had baked her.
