When I was pregnant with my last child, I had some of the strangest cravings. Most of the time, in past pregnancies, I always craved pretty healthy stuff, watermelon, strawberries, snap peas, rice cakes…I know weird….but I was okay with it because I could pretty much eat as much as I wanted without having to worry too much about gaining weight. This one was different though. I wanted deep fried food.
I usually can’t stand the taste or smell of a deep fryer, but that’s what I wanted. My friends heard about my need, and brought me my very own deep fryer, and this recipe from Food.com for deep fried mushrooms.
I was a little apprehensive at first, but I gave them a shot. They were wonderful, and just what that little baby wanted. I made these several more times throughout my forty weeks of carrying a child, I just had to eat in moderation instead of stuffing my face. I just kept telling myself, at least it’s a vegetable in there!
