Beverly was made to be a housewife ever since we were little.
Among us friends, she was the one who was being trained to be one. Her family was a bit traditional and believed that to have a good husband, a woman should learn how to be a good wife. So Beverly and her sisters were all taught how to cook ever since they were little. In fact, they were the ones assigned to cook for family gatherings.
It was how they could put their cooking skills to practice. I remember Beverly inviting us to their house every after school just so we could test her cooking skills. Who would say no to that? Definitely not one of us.
One of the specialties of Beverly’s family was their clam chowder. It was a classic simple dish, but it was their family’s pride. So Beverly and her sisters worked hard to achieve the taste of their mother’s clam chowder.
When we first tasted Beverly’s version, we were sure she just surpassed her mom’s version. Hers was much creamier and much tastier. It was also a bit thicker than her mom’s.
I guess the hard work really paid off. She was now a wife to a businessman and a mother to an adorable little boy. This clam chowder recipe that I found reminds me of Beverly and her continued persistence.
