As one of the most versatile dishes on the planet, I make this in my own versions now for me and my family. I will change up the meats, cheeses, and vegetables to make it taste a little bit different each and every time. My kids get bored easily. As long as I do a few minor tweaks here and there, there are never any complaints when I make this.
This dish is so simple and amazing, you really would have to try hard to mess it up!
Ingredients
1-2 lb ground beef
1 pkg Lipton dry onion soup mix
3/4 c water
1/2 c finely chopped onion
1 1/2 c finely shredded cheese of your choice
1/2 tsp Morton salt
1/4 tsp McCormick’s pepper
1 1/2 c milk
3 large eggs
3/4 c Bisquick mix
Instructions
Lightly grease a 9 x 13 pan (or two pie pans) and set oven temperature to 400 degrees.
Cook and drain ground beef. Add onion soup mix and 3/4 cup of water, let simmer until liquid is gone.
In a separate pan, caramelize onions and add to hamburger mix.
In a mixing bowl add salt, pepper, milk, eggs and Bisquick mix. Beat until batter is evenly mixed.
Take the hamburger mix and the shredded cheese to make two layers in your pan. Make sure there is a layer of cheese on top. Next, evenly pour the Bisquick batter over the top of the hamburger and cheese layers.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and let cook for 30 minutes.
