Ever since I’ve been a little girl I’ve been eating cabbage dishes.
I come from a German, Polish, Hungarian family so cabbage was always a major factor in my life. I think my mother bought stock in the stuff. From cabbage rolls to shredded cabbage salad, we were always eating cabbage of some sort. Believe it or not, before this recipe I had never heard of cabbage gratin before.
So, I knew that I had to give it a try. I showed the recipe to my mom and she calmly said, “Hmm, never tried that one before, musta just been created.” Haha! Well, mom, you’re in for a surprise because this recipe turns out just dandy with deliciousness.

Quick Tip: I like to sprinkle on some breadcrumbs to the top of this cabbage gratin during the last few minutes of cooking.
