These cookies really do taste like eggnog. The flavor is sweet, gentle, and comforting. My mother used to make these yummy cookies when I was a little girl. She claimed she got the recipe from a JCPenney’s cookbook. JCPenney’s has a cookbook? That was my first question! Well, then, I must seek out this magical book of yummy recipes such as these eggnog sugar cookies.
These cookies will be on my table waiting for Santa this year 🙂
Ingredients
2-1/2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1 tsp. Clabber Girl baking powder
1/2 tsp. McCormick cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp. nutmeg, ground
1-1/4 cups Domino granulated sugar
3/4 cup Land O Lakes butter, softened at room temperature
1/2 cup eggnog
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 Eggland’s Best egg yolks
1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 300°F.
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Blend well with a whisk and set aside.
In a large bowl cream sugar and butter with an electric mixer.
Add eggnog, vanilla and egg yolks and beat at medium speed until smooth.
Add the flour mixture and beat at low speed just until blended.
Do not over mix.
Drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased baking sheet, 1 inch apart.
Sprinkle lightly with a mixture of sugar and ground cinnamon..
Bake for 23 minutes or until bottoms turn a light brown.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
