When we had our first summer block party last year, we really went all out. All the people of the subdivision chipped in and we got inflatables for the kids, a petting zoo, and even a music djay to spin some hits. It was a beautiful evening and we were so happy to be outside again. It was nice to be able to catch up with our neighbors whom we really do enjoy, but don’t see that often in the winter when we are all hiding away in our houses. One of the best parts of the evening was the food!
Everyone brought a dish to pass and most were the favorites of the traditional picnic and barbecue season. That was except for what our one neighbor Sarah had made. It was this broccoli noodle salad that was like something I had never tried before.
The flavor was incredible. It reminded me of eating at one of our favorite Asian-inspired restaurants. I was sure to talk to her about the recipe so I could make it again myself. Now I get to take it to the events we go to over the summer, and sometimes I even will toss it together in the winter.
