It took me until I was about 20 years old before I would ever try any sort of Asian dish. The people in my small town always talked about how great our local Chinese restaurant was, but I wasn’t brave enough to try it. Finally, they opened it up into a buffet, so I figured it was safer to explore the foods that they offered that way.
Surely I would be able to find something. My girlfriends told me that there were donuts and french fries on the buffet too, so I wouldn’t walk away hungry.
When we got there, they all ordered the buffet, as did I, but they got these crab rangoon wontons as an appetizer. They looked just like this recipe from Group Recipes.
Now, I knew I liked crab, so I was interested to see what these tasted like. They came out looking all deep fried and delicious, so I tried one. They were the most amazing appetizer I had ever tasted.
I instantly ordered another round of those yummy treats. From that time on, whenever someone wanted to go for Chinese, I was the first one in the car!
