Whenever we go to our annual church fundraiser, there are is a silent auction as part of the fun.
There are all kinds of things available at the auction for purchase. There are baskets from area businesses, tickets to shows, gift certificates, as well as homemade pies, cakes, cookies, and other foods. As a busy parent, I like to bid on the food. There is nothing that ever goes to waste at my house with four hungry kids running around I know that much.
And besides that, not many people usually bid on the food, they want the “fancier” items. Well, last year I happened to win a cake from Mrs. Parker. I had won some of her items before so I knew it was going to be good. It was a blueberry Boston cream cake like this one.
As soon as I got it home, my kids dove right into it. I was lucky that I even got a piece! It was really tasty, so I fully understand their enthusiasm over the dessert.
I was sure to get her recipe from her, which she only gave me after I promised to bid on her cake again next year…with pleasure!
