Arni has passed by my house a couple of days ago bringing me a package of biscuits placed inside a box. They’re familiar biscuits. She’s been making them since she was in college and it’s the reason why she was able to finish college actually. It’s a family recipe for biscuits that uses bacon and cheese. I remember Arni placing them in beautiful boxes in college and selling them to her dorm mates and friends just so she could continue studying.
She was on a scholarship, but she needed money for projects and meals, so her biscuits were the ones who saved her. As a friend, I really would have bought her biscuits even if they didn’t taste good, but they did. In fact, I found myself buying a lot from her and taking it back with me whenever I went home for break. Even my Mom loved them!
Annie is now a business woman and she doesn’t need to sell these anymore to survive. But she still makes them to remind her every now and then of her humble beginnings. She says she doesn’t want to forget about her past, which has molded her to become who she is at the present. Nice philosophy, Arni!

Quick Tip: You can cook your bacon in the oven at 450 for 10-12 minutes. That way, the bacon lays flat, and you still have the grease if you want it.
