This Was Grandma’s Favorite… And Mine, Too!
One of the best parts of fall is the fall-bearing fruit trees like apples and pears. I have a pear tree outside of my house and every year it is a race to get the fruit before the blackbirds do. Those crazy dang birds! They can peck a tree clean before 10am in the morning! Well, they didn’t defeat me this year and I managed to get a bushel of those sweet, juicy pears. And guess what I did with them? I made pies! A pear custard pie to be exact.
