There are desserts that you just want to stare at and never touch because they’re so beautifully crafted that you want them preserved forever.
I see a lot of these desserts from outside the bakery windows and I just can’t help but stand there and stare at them until the store owner finds me weird and sends me away. Too much heart and effort are given to that beautiful food art. And I admire the people behind them. I remember making something for my niece and nephews a few months ago. They’re just simple Mickey Mouse cookies, but the iconic mouse was their first real love. It was accidental actually.
I was making cookies with my best friend, something that was a tradition for us when the idea popped into my mind. My best friend was chatting me up, and she was so enthusiastic that I found myself getting lost in her storytelling. I didn’t notice that I was playing with the dough as if it was clay. I ended up molding a popular cartoon character and we both decided to keep it, baking it as is.
I practiced for a while before I was able to come up with a real look-alike of Mickey Mouse. It still wasn’t as perfect, but at least it made my niece and nephews really happy.
