I rarely talk about my paternal grandmother. Between my paternal grandparents and my maternal grandparents, we were closer to my maternal grandparents. It’s because the other pair of grandparents lived quite far from us. We needed to drive for hours or take a flight to visit them. I and my brother were also closer to my cousins in the mother’s side because of the same reason.
However, it didn’t mean we didn’t love our paternal grandparents and that we weren’t close to them, relationship wise. We were. However, there was always that first awkward moment after every first meeting.
Both pairs of the grandparents have already passed away, but I had one food memory with my grandmother from the father’s side that I always loved reminiscing about. We called her Grandmom. Grandmom always cooked the best food whenever we visited.
She spoiled us actually since we rarely saw them. The table would be full of the most delicious desserts and I would happily gobble up my favorites. This recipe that I am sharing with you reminds me of one dish that she used to serve us.
Goulash. Grandmom used to make the tastiest goulash which I will never get to eat again. I hope you will love this dish and the memory that came with it.
