I am crazy about homemade cakes – and who wouldn’t be? I love everything about making them from scratch, waiting for them to bake in the oven, and of course gobbling them up faster than you can say “yummy”… I know I could make an easy, tasty cake from a box – and sometimes I do. But those don’t make me feel like I’m a “real” baker. Every time I make a cake I like to pretend I’m a pastry shop owner. Of course, it doesn’t always turn up looking very professional…
Anyway, this is one of my favorite cakes EVER. If you’re in a hurry, you can make it without the brown sugar topping. But I honestly think you should give the whole thing a go first! I’ve never been to France but I guess they know their cakes there, since this is called a French apple cake.
This cake tastes so amazing you’d never believe how easy it is to make! I almost feel a little embarrassed when I share the recipe with my friends – they’ve seemed to think a stupendous cake like this takes hours to make!
