At my church, we have a group of ladies and a few men that are always looking for new ways to get together and help the community, and our parish. Recently, one of them had the idea to do a cake walk fundraiser. I couldn’t even remember the last time I had been to a cake walk. The idea was that everyone would bring in donated desserts, and the public could come in, walk around, and buy what they thought looked good. All the money raised would then go to help families in need around the holidays. What a terrific idea!
Not only did I make some of my world famous chocolate chip cookies to donate, I of course had to take part in picking up of some delicious desserts to take home. One participant, Mrs. Taylor, brought in these cranberry bars that looked so festive, I couldn’t help but buy a plate.
They looked very similar to this recipe from Spend with Pennies. I took them home and couldn’t wait to try them. They were amazing! I was sure to get that recipe written down so I could make them for future potlucks, family events, and even cake walks. This one was such a huge success, I’m sure there will be more to come.
