Ahhh, meatloaf! Can’t you just smell its aroma wafting through your home?
Even as I type this now I can smell the gourmet ground beef, spices, and sauteed onions cooking to perfection in my oven. Yes, folks, meatloaf is what’s for dinner tonight! My family and I may not always agree on dinner but one thing is for sure; we all love meatloaf! I can remember my first attempt at making this very delicious and very basic meal when I was newly married and about 22 years old.
Surprisingly, the food turned out amazingly well despite my lack of experience. I’ve used my mother’s recipe for many years but then I came across this artfully prepared masterpiece in a Mennonite cookbook that I found at a thrift store and thought I’d give it a try.
Boy oh boy, am I ever glad that I found that book! Give this meatloaf a shot and tell me what you think.

Quick Tip: No breadcrumbs? No worries! Use old-fashioned oatmeal or crushed crackers, instead.
