Whatever’s In The Fridge Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Grilled cheese sandwiches are a staple food at my house. They are so simple to throw together, and so filling that with a bowl of soup on a cold winter day, everyone sleeps a little better.

However, one particular day, I didn’t have the soup to go with the regular sandwiches. I knew that just a sandwich wasn’t going to be enough. I would have to make a whole loaf of breads worth of them in order to fill up my hungry family.

That’s when I started looking for what else I could stuff them with. Bacon, onions, extra cheese? Okay. The final products looked very similar to this recipe that I found on The Pioneer Woman.

They were stacked so high, I had to squish them down into the counter just to cut them so we could eat them. My kids and husband were more than satisfied with their sandwiches that night, and I was happy I didn’t have to run to the store for soup.

We still got our comfort meal without having to leave the nice warm atmosphere of home. It’s a winner for me!
