I Am SO Making This Cake Tonight

I wanted to make a cake for dessert, for our special Christmas dinner. This year we invited our neighbors and some of our closest friends – plenty of people, so I needed a dessert that could be made ahead. I thought cake would be a great option, and it would be easy to serve, too.

Despite the vast amount of cake recipes I’ve collected over the years, I decided I needed something that I had never made before. Sometimes you just have to be brave and try something new, right?

I found this amazing, old-fashioned cake recipe on Lois’ wonderful blog Stuffed At The Gill’s! It is her mother’s cherry cake, and the picture looked so tempting I knew I had to make it right away.

Now, you could try all kinds of modern cake recipes but I guarantee none of them will come even close to this cake Lois shared. I think I’m going to make this for the next church potluck – or maybe I should make two, just so I’d have some leftovers to take home!
