Banana cream pie is always a big hit at our house. No matter how often I make it, there’s never a crumb left by the time my kids are done. I used to make just a regular banana cream pie until I decided to double the pleasure by adding even more banana flavor in there.

I was used to making this with just banana pudding and whipped cream, but then a friend of mine told me she always adds fresh banana slices, too, and it makes a huge difference. I felt so dumb for not having thought of it on my own!

This double banana cream pie makes the perfect dessert on a hot summer day, but I also love serving it in the middle of the winter, with a cup of hot chocolate! Banana and chocolate always work together so well – it’s a delicious combination. Plus, I think it’s a refreshing change to all the cranberry and gingerbread flavored dessert we so often have during the holiday season!
