This Soup Is Like A Warm Hug Just When You Need One The Most

It was over Andy’s creamy potato soup that I told my niece the story about the stone soup. Who would ever forget that one? It teaches us how to be generous and how to be kind to the less fortunate. It was a bit tricky of the man to do that to the old lady, but at least it resulted to something good. The old lady learned to be generous and she also learned to smile and be patient.

It’s one of those stories that kids need to hear over and over again. When I first heard about it, I thought it was funny. Imagine hearing about this grumpy old lady who managed to be tricked by a traveler by telling her that he could make a soup out of a particular stone.

But in the end I realized that he was probably meant to meet her so he could show her how to live life to the fullest by smiling and by being kind to others. Ugh. Soups do this to me. They just bring comfort to your soul which is why you become sentimental sometimes.

Anyway, my niece loved the story. And she asked her mother right after if this potato soup she served us was made of stone. Andy simply laughed and told her it was made of a mother’s love for her family.
