Why We Poke Holes In Our Chocolate Cake (And You Should, Too)

This Is What You Get When You Mix Chocolate Cake With Hot Fudge And Oreos

As a member of the PTA, I am constantly sitting in meetings with all the other caring parents planning out fundraisers and events for our school. I love the time I get to talk with the other moms and dads about what we can do to make our school a better place for our students. During some of these meetings, if there is a birthday in the room, members will bring in different desserts. On one such occasion, I was really dragging. I wasn’t feeling the greatest and it had been a tough week at work.

Then, I remembered that Susan was celebrating her 45th birthday. One of the other mom’s walked in with this amazing looking dessert that made my mouth water as soon as I laid my eyes on it.

After we sang, I was the first one in line to get my slice. I knew it was going to go fast and I didn’t want to miss out! I instantly started feeling better, and I came up with some great new plans for our kids at that meeting. I call it the “Saving Cake” now. It saved me in that instance anyway!
