There’s WHAT In This Pie??

My Mother Used To Make This In The 1960’s

Now, here’s an old-fashioned recipe that will take you back in time! The idea of vinegar pie wasn’t new to me; I remember my mother and grandmother making these decades ago, back when you really didn’t have access to all the fancy ingredients we have at every grocery store these days. I was a little girl then, and I kind of remember not enjoying the tangy flavor of the pie – call it, the unrefined taste buds!

I was a picky eater and I refused to eat anything that seemed “weird” to me. Believe me when I tell you – I considered almost anything weird back then! These days I eat everything with a good appetite, and I’ve been trying all kinds of childhood dishes again, just to find out if I do like them after all.

Last week I came across this beautifully simple recipe, and it immediately brought back so many memories. I just had to make the pie right then and there – and since the ingredients can be found in pretty much any household, I didn’t even have to stop by the grocery store first!

Quick Tip: Don’t let the custard come to a boil once you’ve added the egg mixture!
