Stop!…Don’t Throw Out Those Stale Donuts!

I worked in an office for many many years before I had kids and became a stay at home mommy. One of our bosses would regularly bring in donuts for everyone. Now, when I say he brought in donuts, I mean he brought in practically the entire bakery. I think his idea was to buy a lot so that we could have them all week. Most people know though, fresh donuts are not going to stay fresh for an entire week.

I always felt terrible watching the janitorial staff dump boxes of the tasty treats into the trash. They weren’t any good though…I knew I wasn’t going to eat them. Many years later, I found this recipe on Spend with Pennies for cake donut bread pudding.

After reading it over, I couldn’t believe how simple, and resourceful it would have been back then to have this in my pocket. It looked so tasty though, the next time I went shopping I bought donuts just to make this. We didn’t even wait for them to go bad.

I had to try it right away! It was just as amazing as what I thought. Too bad I couldn’t have save all of those donuts so long ago.
