Spicy And Sassy! Give This South-Of-The-Border Shepherd’s Pie A Try

I love traveling. Traveling allows me to see places and experience a new culture that I wouldn’t have thought I would get to experience.

But I have to admit that one of my priorities when traveling is food. Each state, each town, each village, each restaurant, or even each household has a different version of a particularly popular dish. And while it uses the same ingredients, one twist (can be an added ingredient/s or a different cooking method) really is enough to change the taste. And for the better!

Shepherd’s pie is special to me. It’s not the “conventional pie” because it uses mashed potatoes as its crust instead of dough. But even if it’s different that way, it’s one of those that I learned to love ever since that first taste. I was used to eating it as is.

Even if I have eaten shepherd’s pie at different restaurants, I notice that they still taste very much similar; as if they were all cooked by a single person. This recipe that I found over at Recipe Lion literally gives this classic dish one twist giving it that unconventional touch. And I have a feeling that it’s a flavor that you will also love!

Quick Tip: Yukon gold potatoes add extra flavor, but the butter and cilantro will enhance 2 1⁄2 cups (375 mL) of your favorite instant mashed potatoes.
