Simple Shepherd’s Pie: It’s What’s For Dinner

During the first year we were married, my husband I went to Walt Disney World to visit the food and wine festival.

We absolutely love food so we knew we had to do this.  If you have never been, they basically take Epcot’s World Showcase (the one that represents a bunch of different countries) and set up carts at each country that serves small plates of food from that country.  So in Brazil, you can get a small plate of cheese bread, in Mexico, nachos, and in England, fish and chips.

The plates are more like large samples so you definitely do not fill up on just one.  You can eat in just about every country if you ration yourself (this takes skills, my friends!).  Last year, we tried a Shepherd’s pie in America.  I had never enjoyed that in my life, but my husband told me I would love it.

Since I love both mashed potato and ground beef, I knew I would and gave it a chance.  I was not disappointed.  What makes it even better is that it was covered in gooey, melted cheese.  That gave it an even better flavor and appearance.  You have got to try this recipe this week!

Quick Tip: Use boxed mashed potatoes if you’d like.

Why do people insist on calling this shepherd’s pie. Shepherd’s pie is made with lamb, this is made with ground beef, which id cottage pie also know as the poor mans shepherds pie.

.This dish is really called Cottage Pie in the UK ,Shepherds Pie is made from ground lamb ( hence the shepherd) but they both taste great .When I make the two pies I add carrots.

I agree with Michael and Tom. The recipe writers need to get their recipe names correct. Maybe some people don’t care, but there is a difference, and when posting a recipe they should call it by the right name! My hubs is english and this drives him nuts, LOL.
