This Cake Is Fit For A King (But You’ll Want To Eat It All By Yourself)

Do you ever wonder how they make those incredibly delish, creamy and custardy cakes at your favorite coffee shop? I had tried a gazillion recipes in order to create something similar at home, but none of them came even close to the one they serve at the local cafe. I didn’t want to go ahead and ask them for the recipe (it was probably a family secret, anyway) so I was feeling desperate – until my friend gave me this one!

The recipe was on a hand-written note and she didn’t remember where it was from, but she thought it could have been from a church potluck years ago. Wherever she got it from, I am forever grateful!

This cake is slightly different than the one they sell at the cafe, but I’m going to be bold and say this one is even better! It’s my favorite dessert to make when I’m serving a larger crowd – I can easily double the ingredients and there will be plenty for everyone. Especially when I’m serving it with a mixture of fresh berries! It just makes the perfect combination for summer parties.

Don’t get me wrong, though, this cake is just as delicious year round!
