Country Bumpkin Syrup Cake – A Classic Confection

When it comes to easy-to-make cakes I’m all in it to win it!

This old-fashioned syrup cake is just what the doctor ordered. I was super excited when I came across it.

It only requires a few ingredients and simple steps. You are going to be amazed at how well this cake turns out. I like to serve this cake after dinner on a weeknight or I enjoy taking it to my church’s monthly potluck meal. It’s always a hit.

Karo syrup is such an old-fashioned ingredient and I really enjoy using it in various recipes. Corn syrup has gotten a bad wrap as of recent years but honestly, our mothers and grandmothers have been using it for years and they are all fine. Shoot, I can remember watching my mother put it into my sibling’s baby bottles to soothe upset tummies.

Now, I don’t know if I’d do that this day and age but hey, it worked for them back then, right? Nobody died from it 🙂 Enjoy this yummy syrup cake!
