Apple Walnut Crisp Leaves You SPEECHLESS!

If you like apple pie you will really dig into this dessert. I love the walnuts, spices, and texture of this yummy concoction and I know you will, too! This is one dessert that I’ll be tucking away in my super special recipe box. I don’t want to forget about this little gem! My mother told me that this is one of the best desserts that she’s ever eaten. She loves apple desserts as much as I do.

Yes, I do have to agree that this is a great apple dessert. I’ve never really used walnuts in my cooking before. it’s always been pecans, almonds, or peanuts. I have to say that the walnuts give this dessert a very nice nutty flavor.

Ingredients

8 c sliced and peeled tart apples – I used granny smith

2 1/2 c packed Domino brown sugar, divided

2 tsp McCormick ground cinnamon

1 c Land O Lakes butter, softened

2 Eggland’s Best eggs

2 c Gold Medal all-purpose flour

1 c finely chopped walnuts, divided

TOPPING

1/2 tsp Domino sugar

1 stick Land O Lakes butter, softened

1/2 c Gold Medal flour, use less if apples are not juicy.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Place apples in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and the cinnamon.

In a bowl, cream butter and remaining brown sugar. Add eggs.

Stir in flour and 1/2 cup walnuts.

Spread over apples.

Sprinkle with the remaining walnuts. I also sprinkled with a tablespoon of granulated sugar.
Bake for 45 – 55 minutes or until the apples are tender.

Serve with ice cream if you so desire.
